Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to website owners.

2. How We Use Cookies

AkBaat uses cookies and similar technologies (e.g., local storage, session storage) for the following purposes:

  • Essential cookies: Required for the Service to function properly. These include session cookies for authentication, shopping cart management, and security tokens.
  • Preference cookies: Remember your settings and preferences (e.g., dark mode, language) to provide a personalized experience.
  • Analytics cookies: Help us understand how visitors interact with our website by collecting and reporting information anonymously. This helps us improve the Service.
  • Advertising and measurement cookies: We use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to measure the performance of our advertising and to show our ads to relevant audiences on Facebook and Instagram. These cookies record actions such as viewing a product, adding an item to your cart, starting checkout, and completing an order.

3. Specific Cookies We Use

4. Third-Party Cookies

We use Supabase for database and authentication services. Supabase may set cookies as part of its authentication and security infrastructure. These cookies are subject to Supabase's own privacy policy.

We use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel and Meta's Conversions API. These set cookies in your browser (_fbp, and _fbcif you arrive from a Meta ad) and send Meta information about your activity on our site — pages and products viewed, items added to cart, checkouts started, and orders placed, together with the order value. Where we share contact details such as an email address or phone number with Meta for measurement, they are converted into an irreversible cryptographic hash on our servers first; we do not send Meta your name, address, or CNIC. This information is subject to Meta's own privacy policy.

You can limit how this information is used for advertising through your Facebook and Instagram ad preferences, and you can block or delete cookies using your browser settings as described in section 6.

5. Mobile App Data

The AkBaat mobile application does not use browser cookies. Instead, it uses local storage, secure token storage (Expo SecureStore), and device identifiers for similar purposes. These include:

  • Authentication tokens stored securely on-device
  • Local storage for cart data and preferences
  • Push notification tokens for order updates

6. Managing Cookies

You can control and manage cookies through your browser settings:

  • Block all cookies: Most browsers allow you to block all cookies. However, this may affect the functionality of the Service.
  • Delete cookies: You can delete existing cookies through your browser settings.
  • Restrict cookies: You can set your browser to accept certain types of cookies only.

Note: Disabling essential cookies may prevent you from using certain features of the Service, including logging in, placing orders, and accessing your account.

7. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature. There is currently no industry standard for how to respond to DNT signals. We do not currently change our data practices in response to DNT browser signals.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
